Questions fréquentes

How much does a surf lesson cost at Santocha?

A group lesson is 50EUR per session (2h, equipment included), but the 5-session pack at 180EUR works out to just 36EUR per session — a 28% saving. We also offer private lessons (100EUR/1h). See our pricing page for full details.

What is the minimum age for surf lessons?

Surf lessons are available from age 8. Children are supervised by our state-certified instructors with adapted equipment (foam boards, kids' wetsuits). See our kids lessons.

Do I need to know how to swim?

Yes, you must be able to swim to take a surf lesson. We recommend being able to swim at least 25 metres unaided. Lessons take place in areas where students can usually touch the bottom at first.

Is equipment included?

Yes, all equipment is included in the lesson price: surfboard adapted to your level, wetsuit and rash guard. You just need to bring a swimsuit and towel.

When is the best time to surf in Capbreton?

You can surf in Capbreton all year round! Summer (June–September) is ideal for beginners with gentler waves and water at 20–22°C. Autumn and spring offer more consistent swells for intermediate surfers.

What is the difference between the surf school and the club?

The surf school offers one-off lessons for everyone (tourists, beginners, families). The Santocha club is for members with an FFSurf licence: regular training, competition team, and a real community all year round.

How do I join the Santocha club?

Registration is online via our membership page. Choose your plan (membership from 30EUR, FFSurf licence from 60EUR), fill in the form and pay online via HelloAsso.

Does Santocha offer bodyboard lessons?

Yes! Santocha is also a bodyboard school with Derek Crater, a state-certified instructor. Beginner and advanced lessons, plus a competitive bodyboard section.
