Frequently asked questions about surf lessons
How long is a surf lesson?
Group lessons last 2 hours, including warm-up, beach theory and water practice. Private lessons last 1 hour for intensive, one-on-one coaching.
Do I need to know how to swim?
Yes, you must be able to swim to take surf lessons. We recommend being comfortable in the water and able to swim at least 25 metres. Lessons take place in areas where you can usually touch the bottom.
What is the minimum age for surf lessons?
We welcome children from age 8. Groups are tailored by age range. There is no upper age limit — adult beginners are more than welcome!
Is equipment included?
Yes, all equipment is included in the lesson price: a surfboard suited to your level (soft-top foam board for beginners), wetsuit and rash guard.
What happens if the weather is bad?
Lessons may be rescheduled if conditions are unsafe (thunderstorm, waves too powerful). Our instructors assess conditions daily. If a lesson is cancelled, it is rescheduled or refunded.
How many people are in a group lesson?
Group lessons are capped at 8 students per instructor, ensuring personalised attention and the best possible progression for everyone.
