Beyond holiday lessons, we offer passionate children the chance to join the club year-round. Weekly training, competition support, club life... a whole world opens up for them!

Our young competitors regularly take part in the FFSurf Nouvelle-Aquitaine circuit, guided by our coaches. It's a rewarding sporting and personal adventure for those who want to go further.

Frequently asked questions about kids surf lessons

What is the minimum age for kids surf lessons?

We welcome children from age 8 for surf lessons. At that age, they generally have the coordination and stamina to fully enjoy the activity. For younger children, bodyboarding can be an excellent alternative.

Does my child need to know how to swim?

Yes, being able to swim is essential for safety. We recommend that your child can swim 25 metres and is comfortable putting their head underwater. Lessons take place in shallow areas, but swimming ability is still necessary.

Are groups organised by age?

Absolutely! We form age-appropriate groups: 9-12 years (Kids) and 13+ (Teens/Adults). This allows us to adapt the teaching style and exercise intensity for each group.

What equipment is provided for children?

All equipment is included: foam surfboards sized for their height and weight (very stable and safe), a wetsuit in their size, and a rash guard. Children just need to bring their swimwear.

Are the lessons safe?

Safety is our top priority. All our instructors are state-certified and trained in first aid. Groups are limited to 8 children per instructor. We select the safest conditions and the most suitable zones for kids' lessons.

What does my child actually do during a surf lesson?

The lesson lasts 2 hours: fun warm-up on the beach, learning the moves on the sand (position, balance), then a gradual transition into the water. Children learn to ride the whitewater, then pop up on the board. It's all delivered in a supportive, encouraging atmosphere!

My child is afraid of the water — can they still try?

If your child is genuinely anxious in the water, it's best to first build their confidence at the pool or at the beach with the family. Our instructors are patient and kind, but a basic level of water comfort is needed for a positive experience.

Can my child join the club for year-round surfing?

Yes! Santocha offers annual memberships with weekly training sessions. It's the ideal path for children who want to progress consistently and eventually join the club's competitive section.
